Construction worker dies after fall from building

An employee of a construction site passed away today afternoon after falling off the top of a Dhaka-based building's Dhanmondi region.

A native of Jamalpur The recently deceased Mohammad Sajib (24) used to reside in the building of the National Academy for Educational Management Police said.

The scaffolding that Sajib was working on the outside wall of eight floor -- fell around 11 am. His safety belt also broke and he fell onto the extended section of the second floor, the victim's nephew Dukhu Mia said.

He was transported in the direction of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, according to Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.

The body was taken to the morgue at the hospital to be autopsied, the doctor said.

Prof. Dr. Md Nizamul Karim Director General of NAEM Dr Md Nizamul Karim, director general of NAEM, stated that the incident was caused by the an extension that was vertically extending the building that houses the administration.
